Winemaking is an art and science — it takes skill to make wine and each winemaker has a unique set of skills that are responsible for the style, flavor, and quality of wine. This is why you will find variations between wine produced from the same grape variety and region. Meet our vineyard manager and winemaker Jason Murray.
Jason formerly worked as the Commercial Horticulturalist for Loudon County for 4 years. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S in 1999 and an M.S in 2001, both in horticulture. He has worked with the Loudon County Winegrowers Association (Education Chair) and the Virginia Vineyards Association (Chair of Research and Education). His horticulture management principles reflect a profound interest in ecological management to simultaneously express genuine product quality and preserve the environment.
